What Did I buy Nov. 1st-8th Edition

Along with my Dillon's Mega 10 purchases and my cereal purchases at Hy-Vee I figured my family needed more to eat thss week than just Cheez-its, Chex Mix, and Cereal:) I did pick up a few other items at Dillons, Hy-Vee and Aldi this week. Here is the breakdown:

Dillons:

Total for the week=$59.50. This is higher than my "weekly" budget but I was able to do this since I have been under budget the past few weeks. Having the $$ extra allowed me to do the cereal deal at Hy-Vee and the Mega deal at Dillons where I was able to stock up on items I won't need for a while! I also picked up a few things at Aldi to have on hand for meals for next week in the event I don't make it to Aldi this coming week.

You can see my weekly dinner plan here! This week for breakfast we are having homemade pancakes, banana muffins and cereal and fruit. For lunch we are having leftovers, pb sandwiches and grilled cheese sandwiches. Lunch is usually served with veggies and fruit.

What I bought for the week Oct. 26th edition

I have shopped both Dillons and Aldi for the week and if I can I plan to make it over to Hy-Vee when I got to CVS either Monday or Tuesday. Here is what I have gotten so far:

This week for breakfast we will have cereal, homeade banana muffins, pancakes, eggs and all breakfast is served with fruit. Lunch is usually leftovers or sandwiches. We are having tacos one day for lunch since friends will be in town. You can access my dinner menu plan here.

Our fresh fruit options for the week are apples, pears, pineapple and grapes. For veggies there is celery that is leftover from last week, baby carrots and broccoli.

This week's shopping Trip

Below is what I bought for the week... again I really didn't need much because I had a lot of what I needed already on hand. You can see my dinner menu here and for lunch we eat left overs or sandwiches.. today we actually had chicken nuggets that I found in the freezer:)

So all together for the week I only spent $30.39. Less than I budget but it allows me to spend more in the coming weeks if I need to. Right now my budget says I have 53.54 to last until the end of the month... considering there is only 1 week left for me to shop for I think I can make it:)

Every week I make sure we have a few different options for fruit and veggies. As you can see our fruit options this week are apples, (apple sauce that I will make from apples), fresh pineapple, pears, strawberries and bananas. We usually eat fruit with breakfast and lunch and every now and then with dinner. For veggies we have cucumber, red peppers, carrots, left over broccoli from last week's purchase and celery from last week as well. The fresh veggies are usually served with lunch and then we eat frozen or canned veggies with dinner.

My $37 Grocery Trip!

I went to both Dillons and Aldi today and got some pretty good deals... don't miss how I got 80 ct. tubs of wipes for only .40/1!

Dillons:

• 2 1lb. rolls of 85% lean ground beef on MS for 1.69/1=3.38
• 1 gal. of milk=$2.50 (Aldi is cheaper at $2.30 for theirs)

Total for all this after coupons=$21.58! A savings of 65%!!!

• 1 head of cauliflower=1.49 ( great price considering Dillons is over $2!)

Total for this week=37.33 and I still have around $12 to spare before meeting my $50/week goal. I think I might head to Hy-Vee if I have a time for the awesome price they have on strawberries and blackberries this week!

Serious Savings!

I think the coupon fairy was out today because I kept finding coupons all over the store! Not from blinkie machines, but from people who must not have wanted their coupons. So I ended up with more Pillsbury items than I planned, but hey they were FREE!

Here is a summary of my BEST savings today:

I got back $13 in catalinas for purchasing Pillsbury Products! (3 $3 off coupons and 2 $2 off coupons)

So I only paid .56 cents for all of that!!!! That is a savings of 99% or only paying .56 cents for 27 items!

***NOTE: I did my pillsbury products in 5 SEPARATE TRANSACTIONS. You only want to purchse a maximum of 5 pillsbury products in one transaction in order to gain the most out of the deal!!!***

My Savings this week

I haven't done my full shopping for the week but I ran to Dillons (Kroger) and ended up with some great buys! Make sure you always look for those Manager Special (MS) tags!

• 1/2 gallon of Milk on MS for .50 (usually priced around 1.80)
  
• Red Grapes=.99/lb.
• 3 bags of Kraft cheese=1.98/1 (I used .75/1 2% milk variety coupons to get these for only .98/1!!!)
• Dillons Eggs=.97/dozen
• Kroger fresh boneless chicken breasts on MS for 5.16. (This was a 3.5 pound package with about 7 breasts in it that was originally marked a little over $13!)
  
• 1 box of Honey Nut Cheerios (used .50/1 cellfire coupon combined with 1/1 coupon (from a mailer) and got this for only .17!!!)
• 1 lb. tub of strawberries on MS for .99! (these are usually $2 or more)
  
• 1 lb. tub of grape tomatoes on MS for .99! (these are usually priced at 2.99)
  

My total savings for the day on these items was around 50%!

I was also able to use a 1/$5 veggie purchase coupon as well! Total after coupons and tax was 28.94. If you subtract my FAR coupon it takes it down to 26.28 My reciept says that I saved 63%!!! If you calculate in all the other items I bought on MS it would be much more! Note: check here to see how you can get yoplait kids yogurt for .13/6 ct. pack!!!

Aldi:

• 1 bag of Bananas (7 total) marked down to .25 (a few are edible still, but the other will be used to make Banana bread- yum!)

• 1 3 cup bag of cheese=2.99 (this up from the previous price of 2.79! I noticed this wasn't the only "staple" item to increase)

• 1 Avocado=.99 (I have come to love guacamole!!!)

My total for the week was 43.16... a little over budget but I am anticipating not spending my full budgeted amount next week since I am pretty well stocked!

Weekly Trip

We didn't need much this week since I was well stocked for things I need for next week's menu plan. We also still have a plethora of fresh apples and oranges from my shopping at the begging of last week. Here is what I got:

Dillons:

Total=13.08

Total for the week is 17.41! I love weeks like this and it makes me thankful for the sales that I have used to stock up! When I do my weekly CVS run I will probably stop by Hy-Vee as well for some grapes and kiwi!

My shopping trips- 2 weeks worth

We have some family coming in town for about 4 days and I will have 4 adult mouths to feed and 2 toddlers... double what I am used to! They will be with us tomorrow through Monday. I will miss my usual Friday shopping trip since their visit falls within that time and I want to be spending as much time with family as I can! So as I was preparing and doing my shopping I decided that I would just shop for 2 weeks (ish) this time and see how it goes. Here are my trips:

Aldi:
I made 2 trips, 1 on Saturday (for this week) and one today for this week and next. That is why some of the prices will not match up with this week's ad

• 2 4packs of Pillsbury crescent rolls =2.00- 2 .35/1 coupons doubled =.60 for both!
• 2 5 ct rolls of Pillsbury Cinnamon rolls=2.00- .35/1 coupons doubled=.60 for both!
• 2 Pillsbury breadsticks=2.00-.30/1 coupons doubled=.70 for both!
• 1 Pillsbury pizza dough=1.00-.50/1 coupon doulbed=FREE!
• 1 bag of oranges on MS for 2.49 (these are usually 5.99 a bag)
• 1 bag of mixed fruit on MS for 2.49 (these are usually 4.99a bag I think) I was also able to use a 1/$3 fruit purchse coupon from Dillons for purchasing these 2 bags... so I got both bags for 3.98!
  
• 2 Crest toothpastes=2.00- 2 .75/1 coupons doubled= FREE!

Total for both trips= 34.06 (including tax) I saved a total of about 52%! Don't forget to get your Pillsbury rolls too... make sure you use the widgets on this site to print off coupons- thanks!

Hy-Vee:
1 trip but 2 transactions so I could use my 5/next purchase catalina I knew I would get for purchasing 10 General Mills items:

• 2 packs of Farmland Bacon for 1.49/1=2.98 for both! (I guess they ran out of corn king which is advertised at this price so they substituted Farmland- what a steel!
• 1 24 oz tub of cottage cheese=1.38
• 1 bunch of green lettuce=1.00
• 1 stalk of Dole celery=1.00
• 1 bag of Dole salad mix=1.00-.50/1 coupon=.50
• 10 microwavable cups of Hamburger Helper on sale 10/8. These were apart of the buy 10 get $5 catalina deal. They were $8 and I used 3 1.10/3 coupons from the coupon widgets on this site=4.70 and got back $5 catalina so FREE+ .30! Thanks to my friend H who told me about this great deal!
  
• 2 Pillsbury brownie mixes =2.00- 1/2 coupon=1.00 for both!
• 1 Pillsbury cake mix=.88
• 2 cartons of dozen eggs=1.98
• 14 ct. bag of boxed raisins=1.98

total after coupons and catalina= 16.27 including tax

So the total for all trips was 87.57. Remember I am shopping for 2 weeks on this (hopefully) and my weekly budget is $40/week... so only $7ish over and I am feeding double the amount of people for 4 days... pretty good I say!

This week's trip

So far I have only done my usual Friday Dillons and Aldi run. I am feeling blessed that in the midst of a slow week in great deals we are not in need of much! Here is what I have bought for the week. Oh and I was able to score a great deal on oranges at Hy-Vee last week... 5lb bag for 2.98 so that made my fruit needs a little less this week.

Dillon's
Note: MS means manager special- these are things that are marked down for various reasons.

• 1 bag of golden delicous apples on MS for 1.49/bag (these are usually 4.99)
• 1 pint of Kroger brand half and half=.99
• 1 bunch of green onions= .79
• 1 package of 2 chuck steaks on MS for 2.39 (these were originally marked 3.20) These will give me a chance to try the Lawry's marinades I got for .28 cents last week!
  
• 1 bag (contains 2 bunches) of Kroger celery hearts on MS for .79 (usually 2.50)
• 1 8 ct pack of yoplait frizzee yogurt sticks on closeout for 1.64 (usually 3.19) (used a shortcuts.com coupon for .40 and then a paper mf coupon for .35/1 which was doubled to .70. So I got thise item for .54!
• 1 6ct pack of yoplait yogurt drinks on MS for .79 (usually 3.19)- used a .50/1 coupon doubled to $1 and got these free plus .21 cents of overage!

I got all this for 7.00! My receipt says that I saved only 25% between store and MF coupons. When you factor in the things I got on MS I actually saved around 55%!!

Aldi

• Cooking spray=1.29

• Head of cauliflower=1.69
• 16 oz tub of sour cream=.99

Total this week so far is 22.05. I may plan a trip to Hy-Vee and stock up on their whole pasta that is on sale 10/10.

Are potatoes being used to make gasoline?

That was my honest thought today when I noticed that the 10 lb. bags of potatoes at Aldi usually marked around a 1.99/bag  are now priced at 3.59/bag!  This is still a good deal for potatoes, but I sure was shocked!  I also noticed that they have raised the price on their canned vegetables. What was once a fantastic price of .33/can is now .45/can!  That is a price jump of 36%!  Thanks goodness we serve a Great God who promises that we will never go hungry! I shopped at Dillons and Aldi this week.  Here is what I got:

Dillons:

• 1 package of American Beauty Elbow maccoroni-1.50
  
• 2 bags of Kroger shredded cheese marked at 1.58/1=3.16
  
• 3 lb package of Sterling Silver ground beef =5.55

• 2 6 packs of Yoplait kids yogurt drinks on close out for 1.59= 3.18- .75/2 coupon doubled=2.18 for both packs!
  
• 1 package of Kroger straws for my toddler to drink the yogurt=.89
  
• total before coupons was 24.13, after mf coupons and added tax the total was 19.76... a savings of 47%!

Note: I was actually over charged for 1 of the yogurts.  1 rang up at 1.59 but then the other rang up at full price of 3.19.  This is why it so important to always check your receipt!  Dillons is wonderful about issues like this and will refund you the full price of the overcharged item! So my real total after the refund is 16.57!

Aldi:

4 cans of cream of mushroom/chicken soup marked at .49/can=1.96

I actually shopped this past monday but never posted my trip.  I was able to find great deals on Aldi produce then so I am stocked for this week on great fruits and veggies!  Be sure to check back Monday to see what my menu plan is.  I will be trying a new meal!

The Weekly Trip!

This includes both Aldi and Dillon's this week. Usually I find such great produce marked down at Dillon's, but this week there wasn't any, so I headed on over to Aldi where I always know I can find great prices and good quality on produce! I will probably head to Hy-Vee when I do my weekly CVS run. Here is what I got so far for the week:

Dillons:

• 5 cans of Van Camp pork and beans marked at .19/can (3 day sale!)=.95 (we love baked beans in the summer time!)
  
• 1 pack of Kroger deil ham=2.19
• 1 bag of Kroger popcorn kernels=1.59 (we love fresh popped popcorn as a snack!)
• 2 Lipton sides marked at .74/1=1.48-.60/2 coupon doubled to 1/2 =.48 for 2!
• 2 8 oz. bags of Kroger shredded cheese marked at 1.58/1=3.16
• 1 package of Ball park franks=2.00-1.50/1 catalina=.50!
• 1 box of suddenly salad=.53 after coupon
• 1 dozen large Dillon's eggs on MS for .49! (looks like I will be making deviled eggs for our Sunday school class cook out tomorrow night!)

My total was 10.82. Total savings from vendor coupons and store coupons was 9.82=49%!

Aldi Trip:

• 1 loaf of wheat bread=.59
• 1 bag of tortilla chips-.99
• 1 bag of chocolate chips=.99
• 7 bananas =1.08
• 2 cucumbers marked at .39/1=.78
• 1 bag of 6 oranges=2.49 (a little more than I like to pay for oranges, but we needed something besides all those apples I have been finding for such a good price!)
• 1 pint of grape tomatoes=.99
• 1 bag of baby carrots=.79
• 2 lbs of green grapes=2.98
• 2 cans of green beans at .39/1=.78
• 1 box of cake mix=.79
• 1 box of dog biscuits=.99

Total was 15.35! I could try and figure out what I saved by shopping at Aldi, but I don't have that kind of time:) I can tell you that I probably spent half of what I would have had I paid full price at Dillons- totally worth the extra mile to go to Aldi!

Again this week I did not need much. I continue to be amazed at God's provision for us! So far for the month of June I have not had to buy much, but our meals have been plentiful! Be sure to visit Super Savings Saturday for other great buys!

Weekly Shopping Trip

Again this week I found that I was well stocked for meals and did not need much, so I splurged and bought our favorite Bronco Bob's raspberry chipolte sauce at 6.55 a bottle!  That is the most un-frugal purchase I have made at the grocery store in quite a while, but from all the money I have been saving my budget allowed it!   I also got a few ice cream treats too!  Here is what I got this week and I saved 75%!:

I also used a 1.50 off a 7$ dairy purchase coupon that I recieved from Dillon's in the mail.  My total came to around $30.  My total savings as noted on my reciept from store sales and coupons was $9.30- 24%.  Now if you calculate how much I saved by buying produce on manager special (not calculated on receipt) I actually saved around 75%!

I also ran by Aldi and picked up these items

2 bags of tortilla chips-.99/1=1.98

2 limes.39/1=.78

1 bag of brown sugar=.99

1 bag of long grain rice=1.38

1 pouch of pepperonis=1.99

My total came to around $8.00

So far this week I have spent $38.00 ($2 under my budget!)

I don't plan to go to Hy-Vee but if I am in that neck of the woods I might just pick up some red bell peppers at .88/1!

• 4 cambell's soups marked at .49/1=1.96- .40/4 coupon doubled to .80/4=1.16 or .29/can
• I Brita slim pitcher=10.99  (I had a rain check to make this 4.99 and then a 5/1 coupon so this was FREE)

My total before coupons was 34.03,  after coupons it was 22.85.  Total savings from MF coupons, doubled coupons and store coupons was 17.18, that is 44%!  I bought 21 items so I paid roughly about 1.08 per item if you average it out. 

Now for the real math geek in me:  If you total up what I should have paid for everything before Manager Special, my total should have been around $45.00 ( saved about $11.00 on my ms items).  But because I was willing to buy things on ms I ended up saving even more... so technically I saved about 64% after you calculate all my coupons/store savings (17.18) and the $11.00 I saved for buying things on MS

I am kind of a math geek, but what do you expect- I am married to a math teacher!
