Dillons Savings

Before I handed over my Dillons card I noticed my total was over $100! As I watched my Dillons savings come off my total got down to about $55 but I was still holding my breath:) Finally after all coupons had been accounted for I breathed a sigh of relief as my total capped at 20.96 including tax. I saved 82%!

HOT! Dr. Pepper ALERT

I just got back from doing my March to Savings shopping at Dillons. Pictures to come. Anyway I noticed on my receipt that the Dr. Pepper 2-liters that are only .78/1 TODAY ONLY are counting towards the March to Savings $4 off your total. I just happened to buy 8 2-liters of Dr. Pepper and when I looked over my receipt I noticed I received $4 off for purchasing 8 Dr. Peppers.

Qualifying items are noted by a + sign in brackets next to the item on your receipt. All of my Dr. Peppers had + signs! The Dr. Pepper is .78/1 TODAY ONLY. Buy 8 and get $4 off your total making them .28/1 or more than FREE if you can find .55/1 peelies!

This may be a glitch in the system so do this deal at your OWN RISK!

My March To Savings Scenario

**NOTE: BUMMER! My Kraft catalina didn't print... did yours?**

Kraft Bars, Shreds and Individual Slices are $1.67/1 ($2.17 before .50/item discount) when you buy 8 as apart of the March to Savings Event going on at Dillons this week.

There is also a catalina promotion going on. When you buy $20 worth of participating Kraft products (all cheese items in March to Savings count) you get a $4 catalina back. With the sale, catalina, and a few Kraft coupons that you may have received in the mail from Dillons this could be a great deal!

Below is the deal I plan to do including cheese and other items. Prices are before .50/item discount:
  • Buy 2 Individual Slices (2.17/1 before discount)=4.34
  • Buy 4 Kraft Shreds=8.68
  • Buy 4 of either Kraft bars, shreds or slices=8.68
  • Buy 4 Delmonte Canned Tomatoes=3.98/
  • Buy 2 Ken's Dressings=3.98
Total before sale discount=29.66
  • -$4 for buying 8 participating items
  • -$4 for buying 8 participating items
  • -2 $1/1 Kraft Shreds coupons from Dillons Mailer
  • -$1/2 Kraft individual slices coupon from Dillons Mailer
  • - $1/4 Del Monte coupon
  • -$1/2 Ken's coupon
New Total=16.66 and I will get a $4 catalina back for purchasing $20 in Kraft making my real total 12.66... a savings of almost 60%

If you break it all down I end up getting the Kraft cheese for only .97/1!

It Is Done!

Whole Chicken Recipes?

Did you pick up a whole chicken for only .59/lb. at Hy-Vee this past weekend?! That was quite a deal! In my Red Hot Weekend Sale post I asked you to share a favorite recipe. The recipes that were suggested are below:

Butterflied Chicken with Lemon and Rosmary

Simple Whole Roasted Chicken

Whole Chicken in a Crock Pot

Beer Can Chicken

A reader wrote this is what she does:
"I rinse the chicken, cut any extra fat off, rinse the inside REALLY good, season with salt and pepper ONLY and then put the lid on the dutch oven and bake at 350-375 until the leg pulls off the chicken. I think it's about an hour and 15 minutes. Also, put 1 cup of water in the the dutch oven to keep the chicken from drying out. If you need chicken broth, you'll have some when the chicken is done cooking"

I hope you find one of these yummy!

Menu Plan Monday

I have to tell you that one of the main perks of my husband being a teacher is that we get spring break! We have enjoyed a fun weekend of traveling to Tulsa, OK to see my brother and we are now in Haslet, TX visiting my husband's sister and her family. We are having fun and will be here until Thursday.

That being said, my menu this week is whatever my sweet sister-in-law is willing to feed us! I did get quite a few ideas for cooking whole chickens. I will post some of those in case you are like me and just aren't sure what to do with such a thing. Look for those tomorrow.

I won't be completely absent this week though. I will be doing my regular weekly grocery store posts. If you missed Money Saving Mom's post about regional stores be sure to read it! I will be a contributor for Dillons and I am really looking forward to this opportunity!

Happy Spring Break!
