Practially FREE Pepsi products

**Bummer! It looks like the $7.50 rebate form doesn't work for KS residents... SORRY!**

Starting the week of 1/17 both CVS and WAGS have great Pepsi deals going on. YOu can see those deals HERE and HERE.

The short of it is this: Buy $20 worth of Pepsi products get $10 in EB (CVS) or $10 in RR (WAGS back). This is like paying $10 for $20 worth of stuff.

Well... I was just reading HERE this morning about how you can then turn in your receipt to get $7.50 back by mail... making your real total only $3.50 for $20 worth of Pepsi products!!!

Eggs for .79/dozen?

A reader wrote to tell me that when she bought eggs at the North Topeka Walgreens they rung up at .79/dozen! She said there was a sign that said they were .99/dozen but ended up ringing up at a different price!

As far as I know this is just North Topeka Walgreens, but if you are in any other Wags today you might check the egg price!

Here are the best deals I see for the week. My goal here is post the items that I think you can get for less than shopping at Aldi because if you can beat the Aldi price you know it is a GOOD DEAL! Some items don't beat the Aldi price, but still might be a great price if it is name brand.

**All prices with coupons assume the coupon has doubled**
Coupons mentioned are from SS, RP, GM or P&G coupon inserts from our local paper unless specified with a coupon link. To see which insert the coupon I mention came out of I recommend you visit this site here.

Be sure to check your other favorite stores out also. Chances are if you go to their website they have an email sign up!

Pork Roast Ideas

I admit that I bought my first pork roast EVER this past Saturday at Hy-Vee. I figured .99/lb was just to good to pass up! Of course I had no idea what to do with this thing and emailed a friend for some ideas. Here is what she shared with me:

"After cooking roast shred it and season with adobo seasoning by Goya (found in the Hispanic section at Hy-Vee. Make sure you get the one with cumin. Then divide meat and freeze/package for use in your meals. We use the meat for quesadillas, burritos (with rice, beans, cheese & tomatoes), and BBQ sandwiches"

My friend also shared that today she is making pork and noodles (using free Reames, of course). She said to saute some onion and/or garlic, add broth from cooking the roast and bring to a boil, add the noodles and cook as directed. Last 10 minutes add carrots, celery and pork
.

YUM! I can't wait to cook my pork roast and since I too have some FREE Reames on hand I just may try her recipe!

Happy Saving!

My 2 Week Break

If you are a regular reader here you know that I just recently took a 2 week break from blogging (well kind of... I still did a few grocery posts) in the effort to spend more time with my husband and kids while my husband was on Christmas break. There are perks to being a teacher:)

I realized, however, over this break that I was totally burnt out on coupons. I didn't want to organize my coupons and in fact I really wanted to just throw them ALL AWAY! I had at least 3 weeks worth of coupons just scattered in a big basket and it made me angry just to look at them:) I felt so burdened by the coupons and by the nagging sense that I "needed" to go to all these stores and score all these great deals or I would be missing out. This nagging just flat out wore me down! Anybody else relate?

Don't worry, I am not writing this to tell you that I am quitting my blog or that I wish death upon coupons. I am totally thankful for coupons and the ways in which they help me save money. I am also thankful for the privilege I have to do this blog and help so many with their weekly grocery lists. It truly is an honor.

Instead I am writing this tell you that you DO NOT HAVE TO BE BURDENED BY THE COUPONS! You do not have to go to every store and get every good deal you see. You CAN just relax and trust that all your needs will be provided for. This is a lesson I have learned so many times in my life that I have honestly lost count. Just recently I learned this lesson again and that is what prompted me to write this post and other posts that will follow. In the coming weeks I plan to start sharing about how I got into this whole coupon business and the blessings I have expereienced from it.

You will need to have some grace for me writing these posts as I am not an English major. I am an extreme math geek and write like I talk. So if grammar, spelling and punctuation errors hurt your eyes I apologize. There is a reason I never seemed to get better than a B+ in English class!

Menu Plan Monday

Well it was great having my husband home for 2 weeks! I feel revived and refreshed and am excited to get back into a routine!

As I planned my menu this week I was overwhelmed with just how much I had on hand to make meals. I guess I have been stockpiling on things with out realizing it because I have a list of 10 meals long that I have all the fixins for! And thanks to all the great cereal deals we have breakfast worked out for the next year:)

You will notice that I will be adding in a left over night in my menu plan. Over the last few months I have noticed that come Thursday we have enough left overs from the week to make a meal out of. So here is my plan for the week:

Sunday: Hot dogs, oven fries, cheese and some chocolate covered strawberries (a little "left over" items from my parent's new year's eve party)
Monday: Baked ham, scalloped potatoes (BC box I got free a while back), steamed carrots
Tuesday: Sausage broccoli pasta bake, fruit of some sort
Wednesday: Potato Soup, fruit of some sort
Thursday: Left overs!
Friday: Sausage pizza

Have a great Monday!
