Also if you have leftover Christmas ham you need ideas for Blaire shared a great recipe with me! You can see it below:)

HAM AND POTATO CASSEROLE

3-4 med.-sized potatoes
1 onion
1 lb. leftover ham
White sauce
1/2 c. Cheddar cheese
1 tsp. parsley
Salt and pepper

Butter ovenproof casserole and line bottom with layer of peeled and thinly sliced potatoes. Top that with layer of onions. On top of onions put a layer of ham, thinly sliced. Repeat layers. Place last layer of ham around edge of casserole, leaving space in the middle.

Next, pour on white sauce shaking dish gently from time to time so that sauce mixes thoroughly through layers. Put grated cheese in center of casserole and sprinkle with parsley. Cover with tent of aluminum foil. Bake 350 degrees 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake 30 minutes more.

WHITE SAUCE:

3 tbsp. butter
3 tbsp. flour
1 1/2 c. milk
Salt and pepper to taste

Melt butter; blend in flour. Stir constantly as you pour milk slowly into mixture. Cook until thickened. Then add salt and pepper.

My New Favorite Blog!

I have to share that I have a new favorite blog and it isn't even about money saving... seriously! Before I tell you what it is I figure I might as well give you a little background to myself and why this blog has quickly become a favorite.

In 2004 I graduated with a B.S. degree from K-State in Family Life and Human Services. Basically that means I took a whole lot of classes about family life theory and child development theory. After I graduated I worked for Early Head Start in Manhattan, KS. My job there was to work with low income families and their children helping the parents provide the best possible environment for their children to grow and develop. Needless to say it was a rewarding job and I gained much insight from it!

That being said my 2nd love apart from couponing is education for the years of 0-5. I love finding great activities to do with my 2 year old that I know is helping him learn! So when I stumbled upon this blog I became very excited and wanted to share it with you all! It is called confessionsofahomeschooler.blogspot.com

This mom has developed a great blog with super fun and easy ideas to do with your children whether you home school or not! I would not say that I officially "home school", Seth is only 2.5 after all, but I definitely am always looking for fun activities and crafts to do with my toddler... especially now that we are inside a lot more since having Levi.

And on a coupon note don't forget that today is the last day to load the current cellfire.com coupons to your Dillons (Kroger) card... you can do that HERE!

Make Your Own Baby Food!

Our little Levi is 5 months old now and I have started introducing cereal and soon enough it will be on to fruits and veggies. I am not sure how many of you out there are in my boat but I wanted to share with you an awesome baby food making website!

It is called Wholesomebabyfood.com. I love this site because it tells you exactly how to prepare and freeze and use homemade baby food. I did this with my 1st one and I know WE SAVED A TON OF MONEY!

This summer I actually anticipated the baby food making season I would enter and bought fresh fruits when I knew they were at their rock bottom prices. I simply peeled, cut them up and froze them in ziploc bags. In the next few weeks I will be pulling those bags out and preparing baby food for Levi.

I brought this topic up specifically this week because there are great prices on fresh fruits and veggies this week that are perfect for making your own baby food! If you are in the baby food stage or will be soon and need to save a little cash consider making your own baby food and be sure to check out the great deals at all 3 stores this week.

If you have any questions about baby food making or more questions about how I do it please feel free to email me at thegroceryweekly@gmail.com.

Reminder: Toy Coupons!

I wanted to remind you that there are many toy coupons for print HERE!

Be sure to print the Silly Suite Case Potato head coupon and the Swing and Score coupon and then visit this post HERE to find out how to get them for only $5 at K-Mart!

Or you can print the Hasboro Activity Ball coupon and see this post HERE for how to get this possibly for only $6.21 at Target!

Cellfire working...

I was told last week, and noticed myself, that my cellfire links were having issues. They should be resolved now and the new coupons should be popping up on the load pages. A few select coupons will not show up on the load page due to the manufacturer's restrictions so once you are into your account simply select the deals tab and load whatever coupons are left.

You have until next Monday to load the current coupons. Be sure to do so HERE!

Hy-Vee: FREE MILK!

Thank you Laura for emailing me about this!

"Hy-Vee has General Mills Cereals $5/2. When I bought 4 last night, I got a catalina for $3.75 off milk courtesy of General Mills."

Be sure to use $1/2 coupons HERE or from recent inserts to get these for $2 a box! Also I think Hy-Vee milk is actually priced around $2.67 a gallon so you will actually get overage on the deal!

Does anybody know anything else about this? Like if you have to buy 4 boxes or when it ends?

Dillons: .99 Cheese!

At 21st and Fairlawn there is a sign advertising Kroger 8 oz. shreds and blocks of cheese for .99/1!!!! It says the deal is good 12/2-12/8... some how that skipped the ad:)

Anyway I don't know if it is just the Fairlawn store or all stores but this is a great deal to get before tomorrow is over!!!!

Wishbone Coupon

I checked coupons.com this morning to see if any new coupons popped up over the weekend and sure enough there was 1 I thought was worth mentioning!

.75/1 Wishbone coupon! Dillons will often put these on sale for $2 or less and after the coupon is doubled you can get these for $1 or less! It beats the Aldi price of $1.19/1!

Don't Wait!

As I posted the ads this week I found myself thinking there is a lot of great prices on the stuff we need for our Christmas dinner and treats we are making! My encouragement for you is to figure out your Christmas dinner and treat making list NOW! While there will be great sales every week on holiday baking items, it would be better to buy some items you know are a good price rather than wait until the last minute and risk paying more then you need to! Some of the items we will be needing for our Christmas dinner and treats that I think are a great price this week are below:
  • Hershey morsels at Hy-Vee for 1.77/1... if you have the $1/3 coupon these turn out to only be 1.44/1... a little higher than Aldi price but Aldi does not sell peanut butter chips that I know of. So if you need peanut butter chips for your goodies I would get them this week!
  • Blue Bonnet margarine sticks=.48/1 (this is a great price for margarine and lower than Aldi off brand price!)
  • Hy-Vee brand sweetened condensed milk=1.19/1 (the name brand is usually 1.99/1 can and I am not sure if Aldi even has an off brand!)
  • Chex Cereal=1.88/box (use $1/2 coupons from recent inserts or here to get these for only 1.38/box... better than the Aldi off brand price of 1.80/box and higher!
  • Garden Club corn syrup at Hy-Veee for $1.50/1 (you might be able to get Kyro cheaper with a coupon but not by much, so if you don't have a coupon I would get this brand this week!)
  • Breyer's ice cream or Sara Lee pies=2.29/1 when you buy 3 at Dillons (use .75/1 Breyers ice cream to make these only 1.29/1) ($1/1 SL frozen dessert coupon here making these only $1.29/1) You won't find these cheaper than this!!!
  • Kroger bagged potatoes=$1.50/1 (last year Hy-Vee put theirs on sale for .99/bag so they may do that again, but for now Kroger is a great price if you want to get ahead!)
  • Hy-Vee baking peanuts=.99/16 oz. bag (it doesn't get cheaper than that!!!)
  • Stove Top Stuffing is .75/1 after in ad coupon at Apple Markte (beats Aldi off brand price of .88/1)
  • Best Choice cream of soups at Apple Market=.49/1 (beats ANY price!)
  • Kroger 16 oz. cans of party peanuts (for chex mix..yum!=1.99/1 (last year they had an 8 hour sale where these went on sale for .99/1 but there are no guarantees that will happen again)
Happy list making!

CVS green tag

Have you seen these in our CVS store yet? I had not, but picked one up when I was in Lawrence the other day. You can earn extra bucks just by using reusable bags at CVS!

Simply buy the green tag pictured above and attach it to ANY reusable bag (some cashiers have been known to tell customers that it has to be a CVS bag). Be sure to take that bag with you every time you shop CVS and have the cashier scan the tag. For every fourth visit (scan) you will recieve 1 EB!

Also I hear that Dillons will give you .05 cents for every reusable bag you use. They simply take the amount off of your transaction. Any place else I don't know about? I am behind on the times with this reusable bag stuff:)

CHEAP MILK!

I ran into Apple Market real quick tonight and noticed that they have their gallons of Roberts milk on sale for only 2.59/1. You can use a .50/1 coupon and it will double making these gallons only $1.59/1... doesn't get much better than that!

This deal is good through Tuesday!

Cellfire... last chance

Today is your last chance to load the current cellfire.com coupons to your Dillons (Kroger) card. New ones will be posted Tuesday. You have 2 weeks from the time you load the coupons to use them before they expire. If you don't use them, no worries because new coupons come out every 2 weeks!

You can load your coupons here. Remember it is much more time effective to just load all of your coupons at one time!

CVS: Black Friday info

I think I am a little coupon crazy since I found myself dreaming about the CVS black Friday sale! Definitely not as good as last year, but knowing I will get paid to shop there tomorrow makes me very excited!!!!

I got all the info I need to know from this source here. I also have the $5/$20 purchase coupon I printed a while back and the $4 bucks back when spend $20 coupon from the Season to Save book. Be sure to look for the Season to Save book in stores if you haven't gotten yours yet. The image above is what you are looking for.

Oh, and I will be at CVS with you all bright and early in the morning with my game face on. If I cut in front of you or take the last of an item I am apologizing in advance, it is nothing personal:) I haven't really been able to play competitive sports the last 4 years because I have been having children so this is where my all my competitive energies come out!

Have a great Thanksgiving!
