BBQ Chicken Sandwiches: Price Breakdown

You can access this recipe here along with other great frugal recipes! Below are the ingredients and price break down

Slow cooker BBQ chicken sandwiches: Serves 8
  • 4 chicken breasts (2 lbs) - can be frozen (3 lb. bag costs 5.99 so 2lbs.=3.99
  • 2 cups ketchup (a bottle of about 3 cups costs 1.19 at Aldi) 2 cups=.79
  • 4 tablespoons brown sugar (a 2 lb. bag at Aldi costs .99) 4 tablespoons= pennies
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce=pennies
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce=pennies
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar=pennies
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder=pennies
  • 1 8 ct. pack of buns=.79 (Aldi price)
I am going to guesstimate that for the last 5 ingredients of this recipe it might cost you maybe .50 cents.

Total for this meal=$6.07. Break it down per 8 servings=.76/serving. This is another one of those great meals we share with friends. If we won't be sharing it then I cut the recipe in half to fit our family and it only costs $3 to make!

Menu Plan Monday for Nov. 3rd

Here is the plan. I always try to keep our grocery budget to $40 a week and under.

Sunday:
Left overs
Monday: BBQ chicken sandwiches with oven fries and green beans
Tuesday: Breakfast: sweet rolls (see a great deal at Dillons this week on these!), egg and sausage scramble over potatoes
Wednesday: Chicken and veggie stir fry over rice (didn't get this made last week)
Thursday: Beef and Bean burritos, chips and guacamole, and apple slices
Friday: Pizza as always!
Saturday: I never know:)

I will post the price break down for the BBQ chicken sandwiches on Tuesday so be sure to check back then!

Happy Monday!

CVS: November 2

The deals are slim, but here are the 2 I see and my plan!

Icebreakers sugar free gum 10 ct.=10/10

Buy 10=10
use 5 $1/2 coupons
=$5 and you get back 5 in EB= FREE GUM!

Pampers Jumbo packs=2/$20
Buy 2=$20
Use 2 1.50/1 coupons
=$17 and you get $5 back in EB so that is $12 for 2 packs.

My Plan:
2 Jumbo packs of pampers=$20
4 Crest Pro-Health Toothpastes (November monthly)=13.96
Use 2 1.50/1 pampers coupons=-3
Use 4 .75/1 Crest coupons=-3
Total=27.96, and I will get back 18.96 in EB.

I will "burn" about $9 in EB, but in my world it is worth it for the diapers! When you break it down it turns out to be 4.50 per jumbo pack- not a bad deal!

Yucky

That is how I have been feeling a lot this past week so I apologize for the lack of posting. I hope to make it to CVS tomorrow and continue on with my Menu Plan Monday post and usual Tuesday recipe price breakdown. Thank you to all the faithfuls who continue to read this blog!
