A little houskeeping...

I don't usually do posts like this but it has come to my attention that many area cashiers at different stores are becoming very cautious about coupons. They are becoming so cautious that often a manger needs to be called to verify that the coupon is valid. This is mainly happening with internet coupons. A manager at a local Walgreens confirmed that they have received emails from their corporate office encouraging them to be on the look out for fraudulent coupons or in other words internet coupons that have been printed and then copied on a copy machine.

Walgreens and other stores are learning how to tell if an internet coupon is legitimate or not. Each coupon that is printed off the internet has the barcode that the cashier scans and then it has a seperate code found in the top right hand corner of the coupon. That code in the top right hand corner is different on every coupon printed. If the code is the same on 2 coupons then the managers know that the coupon has been copied.

When copied coupons are used it is very possible that the store is then not reimbursed for the coupon. It is important that we use coupons correctly so that we are not taking advantage of the companies that offer them or the stores we shop at.

I am not posting this suggesting that any of my readers copy coupons, however, I wanted to make you aware of what I have learned.

Thanks!

Menu Plan Monday for Jan. 19th

I have one repeat from last week because we did not get to it. My goal is always try to spend $40 or less on groceries (food items) for the week. I do this by shopping 2-3 different stores and trying to only pay what I know to be the best price. If you would like to see the best priced deals for the week in our area the can be found here and here.

Sunday: $ menu at Sonic
Monday: Dinner for my dad's b-day at my parent's house
Tuesday: Beef Stew/homemade bread/fruit
Wednesday: Lasagna/garlic bread/salad
Thursday: Chicken Macaroni/green beans/fruit
Friday: Pizza as always
Saturday: not sure yet

Happy Monday!

My CVS Trip -1/18

I was pleasantly surprised today when I received a 10/50 coupon from the coupon printer at our CVS! I was planning to burn some bucks but after this coupon I only burned 1 EB! Here is what I did:
  • 4 12 packs of Pepsi=$12
  • 3 bags of Lays chips=$9
  • 2 Rogaine for Men foam at 19.99/1=39.98
  • 4 Excedrin at 1.99=7.96
  • 2 CVS 5 ct. Allergy tablets at 3.79/1=7.58
Total before coupons=76.52
  • - 10/50 CVS coupon
  • - 2 15/1 Rogaine coupons=-$30
  • - 4 2/1 Excedrin coupons=-$8
New total=28.52, paid in EBs and a little OOP and got back 10 EB for Pepsi deal, 10 EB for Rogaine and 7.58 for the CVS allergy tablets=total of $27.58 back!

I did end up "burning" 1 EB, but I look at it as getting 4 12 packs of Pepsi for only $1!!!! and I can turn in my pepsi/lays stuff for the $15 in coupons rebate!

To see other deals for the week or where to print some of the coupons I used be sure to see this post here!
