Home Depot Circular to your Inbox

If you are like me your really cheap subscription to the K.C. star has run out thus forcing you to buy it at a convenience/grocery store. The coupons are great but unfortunately you don't get the ads.

I just learned today that you can sign up HERE for free and have the Home Depot circular delivered to your inbox!

Be sure to check your other favorite stores out also. Chances are if you go to their website they have an email sign up!

Pork Roast Ideas

I admit that I bought my first pork roast EVER this past Saturday at Hy-Vee. I figured .99/lb was just to good to pass up! Of course I had no idea what to do with this thing and emailed a friend for some ideas. Here is what she shared with me:

"After cooking roast shred it and season with adobo seasoning by Goya (found in the Hispanic section at Hy-Vee. Make sure you get the one with cumin. Then divide meat and freeze/package for use in your meals. We use the meat for quesadillas, burritos (with rice, beans, cheese & tomatoes), and BBQ sandwiches"

My friend also shared that today she is making pork and noodles (using free Reames, of course). She said to saute some onion and/or garlic, add broth from cooking the roast and bring to a boil, add the noodles and cook as directed. Last 10 minutes add carrots, celery and pork
.

YUM! I can't wait to cook my pork roast and since I too have some FREE Reames on hand I just may try her recipe!

Well at any rate for a limited time you can get FREE SHIPPING on orders $25 or more. I do wonder if you can still use the 40% off coupons on line....?

Happy Saving!

My 2 Week Break

If you are a regular reader here you know that I just recently took a 2 week break from blogging (well kind of... I still did a few grocery posts) in the effort to spend more time with my husband and kids while my husband was on Christmas break. There are perks to being a teacher:)

I realized, however, over this break that I was totally burnt out on coupons. I didn't want to organize my coupons and in fact I really wanted to just throw them ALL AWAY! I had at least 3 weeks worth of coupons just scattered in a big basket and it made me angry just to look at them:) I felt so burdened by the coupons and by the nagging sense that I "needed" to go to all these stores and score all these great deals or I would be missing out. This nagging just flat out wore me down! Anybody else relate?

Don't worry, I am not writing this to tell you that I am quitting my blog or that I wish death upon coupons. I am totally thankful for coupons and the ways in which they help me save money. I am also thankful for the privilege I have to do this blog and help so many with their weekly grocery lists. It truly is an honor.

Instead I am writing this tell you that you DO NOT HAVE TO BE BURDENED BY THE COUPONS! You do not have to go to every store and get every good deal you see. You CAN just relax and trust that all your needs will be provided for. This is a lesson I have learned so many times in my life that I have honestly lost count. Just recently I learned this lesson again and that is what prompted me to write this post and other posts that will follow. In the coming weeks I plan to start sharing about how I got into this whole coupon business and the blessings I have expereienced from it.

You will need to have some grace for me writing these posts as I am not an English major. I am an extreme math geek and write like I talk. So if grammar, spelling and punctuation errors hurt your eyes I apologize. There is a reason I never seemed to get better than a B+ in English class!
