Skillet Lasgna

Courtesy of our MOPS newsletter last year, here is the recipe for Skillet Lasagna. I will also do a price break down for you based on recent prices!

Skillet Lasagna:
  • 1 lb. Italian Sausage Link (used ground that I got for $2 on MS a while back)
  • 1 can of meat flavored spaghetti sauce (I got this for $1/can at Hy-Vee a few weeks back)
  • 3 cups uncooked pasta, cooked according to package directions (I used egg noodles from aldi, I used half the package that cost .99... so .49 for this)
  • 2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese (I got a 2 cup package for 1.68 a few weeks back at Dillons)
Cooke sausage in a 10 inch skillet until crumbled and no longer pink. Drain of grease and add spaghetti sauce. Simmer for 5 minutes and remove from pan. In the mean time cook pasta according to package directions. Once pasta is done layer the bottom of the 10 inch skillet with half of the cooked pasta. Put half of meat mixture on top and sprinkle with some cheese. Top with remaining pasta and then meat mixture followed by the rest of the cheese. Cover and cook over medium heat for 5 minutes or until cooked through and cheese melts. Remove from heat and let it stand 1 minute.

YUMMO as Rachel Ray would say!

This whole dish could easily serve 6 and cost a total of 5.17 to make! If you break it down by 6 servings that would be .86 a serving!
