Must Have Music!

My boys LOVE music! Well, I really think they just like to act crazy and music makes the craziness much more fun and purposeful:)

On the days that we are home all day I usually have a music time. I pull out our music box made up of homemade egg shakers and the Melissa and Doug Music Set. I turn on whatever is in our cd player and the boys know what to do next! With in seconds both children are making as much noise as they can and I am off to a quieter part of the house. I usually use this time to do dishes or sneak down stairs for a date with my laundry.

Lately one of our favorite CD's is Party Like A Preschooler by Go Fish. My friend describes it as kid's music you can stand to listen to. This statement is very true. I never knew that I could listen to songs like "Do your ears hang low" and "5 little monkeys" so many times and not tire of them. This up beat CD is sure to spruce up any "stuck at home" day!

We also LOVE our Melissa & Doug Band in a Box . I have also heard good reviews of the Bee Bob Band, Red. As we have discovered with Levi, simply pouring rice into plastic Easter Eggs and taping them shut is music enough for him!

What are your favorite cd's for kids? If you have music videos or dvds for kids that you are found of, please share those too!

Menu Plan Monday 4/26

Instead of Santa Fe Soup last week I substituted for taco salad. It just sounded good one night and I had all ingredients on hand. Here is our $50/week menu this week:

Saturday: Dinner with my parents
Sunday: Santa Fe Soup with salad
Monday: Chicken spaghetti with steamed broccoli and biscuits
Tuesday: Sloppy Joes, oven fries and asparagus
Wednesday: Pizza and raw veggies
Thursday: Leftovers
Friday: Visiting Family. We will likely stop for a quick bite somewhere.

I will post my Santa Fe Soup recipe tomorrow! Until then, do you all have any great ideas for cooking asparagus? I haven't done it in a long time and I am hoping my 3 year-old will give it a chance:)

This is What a Tired Mommy Does

"Mom, really?"

I had a great weekend! It was so great that I could barely roll myself out of bed this morning after almost 9 hours of sleep! I will spare you the groggy details but the above picture says it all. No mom in her right mind, that I know of anyway, would set down a bowl of cereal and sliced strawberries for her 10 month old to eat! First of all, Levi most certainly cannot use a spoon and strawberries are a "no-no" on the food list until he turns at least 1.

So the hubs and I laughed and he took over breakfast since I appeared to not be fully awake! Seth gladly ate his bowl of cereal and plate of strawberries while Levi enjoyed BABY cereal and some banana.

I am hoping for a better start tomorrow morning:)
