This week's trip

So far I have only done my usual Friday Dillons and Aldi run. I am feeling blessed that in the midst of a slow week in great deals we are not in need of much! Here is what I have bought for the week. Be sure to check back Monday for my weekly post about my meal plan! Oh and I was able to score a great deal on oranges at Hy-Vee last week... 5lb bag for 2.98 so that made my fruit needs a little less this week.

Dillon's
Note: MS means manager special- these are things that are marked down for various reasons.
  • 1 bag of golden delicous apples on MS for 1.49/bag (these are usually 4.99)
  • 1 pint of Kroger brand half and half=.99
  • 1 bunch of green onions= .79
  • 1 package of 2 chuck steaks on MS for 2.39 (these were originally marked 3.20) These will give me a chance to try the Lawry's marinades I got for .28 cents last week!
  • 1 bag (contains 2 bunches) of Kroger celery hearts on MS for .79 (usually 2.50)
  • 1 8 ct pack of yoplait frizzee yogurt sticks on closeout for 1.64 (usually 3.19) (used a shortcuts.com coupon for .40 and then a paper mf coupon for .35/1 which was doubled to .70. So I got thise item for .54!
  • 1 6ct pack of yoplait yogurt drinks on MS for .79 (usually 3.19)- used a .50/1 coupon doubled to $1 and got these free plus .21 cents of overage!

Chicken Macaroni

A good friend of mine made this for us after the birth of our son and we loved it!   I had actually forgotten about it until I read this post here.  I then found another version of this recipe here. We ate it tonight and it was great!  I did not add in the tomatoes you will see in the 1st version, but I assume it will still be good!  Enjoy!

More FREE fast fixin chicken

I mentioned in my Hy-Vee deals for the week that you could get FREE Fast Fixin chicken by using the coupon widgets on this site to print 1/1 coupons.  On the brand's website found here you can click on coupons, sign up and get 5 more coupons!  So you could potentially get 7 boxes of this stuff for FREE!

Free Movie Tickets!

This is from Blaire.  You can also see this in the comments section under "not free, but cheap diapers"

On the back cover page of the Kmart ad that began yesterday (Sunday, 7/6), there is a sale on Reese’s candy bags, 3/$7. When you buy 3, you get a free ticket for the new Batman movie “The Dark Knight”, up to $7.00. You can get up to 4 free movie tickets, but they are all only good for “The Dark Knight”. A catalina prints out, and there is a code on it, which you enter online and print out your ticket. So you don’t have to mail anything in!

Well, at the Kmart on Wanamaker (in Topeka, KS), they have Reese’s peanut butter cups miniatures (13.2 0z bag) with 10% more free, AND there is a separate free movie ticket offer on these bags!!!!!

This movie offer does have to be mailed in, but you can mail all 4 requests in 1 envelope and receive 4 free movie tickets to ANY show, and the value is up to $8.50!! I checked, and both Topeka theaters are participating. Here’s the link with more info:

http://www.hersheys.com/megamovie/

So I got $62 worth of movie tickets and 12 bags of Reese’s candy for $30.08! I’m pretty excited!

Thanks Blaire!

Menu Plan Monday

I have to tell you all that I am so relieved that I don't have to put Mexican Casserole on here for the 4th week in a row! I finally made the dish and my husband confirmed that it is what he calls a "do-over". So we have added a new recipe to our on-going list of "favorites". This week I will be trying another new recipe. It is one we have eaten before, but I have never made. I am looking forward to it! Be sure to check here for more great menus for the week!

Breakfast: Unfortunately in this house there are not many options.
Frozen pancakes (made from scratch and then frozen) and fruit
Oatmeal with fruit
Cold cereal (if you coupon long enough you will never run out of cereal!) with fruit
Yogurt with fruit
Eggs and toast with fruit

Lunch:
Leftovers
Meat and cheese sandwhich
Grilled cheese sandwich
PB & J sandwhich
Mac and Cheese
Rice and veggies
Note: All lunches are served with fruits and veggies from what I was able to buy for the week

Dinner:
Sunday:
We had lunch around 1:00 (sandwhiches with the fixin's along with fruit and raw veggies) and then our small group met at 5:30. We ate a quick snack of free pizza rolls and then enjoyed some other snacks at small group. No, we did not feed our child pizza rolls... he had a very healthy meal of yogurt, grapes, whole wheat crackers and a few pieces of lunch meat.
Monday: Chicken and bacon quesadillas/chips and salsa/raw veggies and grapes
Tuesday: Hamburger Potato Casserole/broccoli/apple slices
Wednesday: Chicken Maccaroni (look for this recipe to be posted Tuesday)/green beans/orange slices
Thursday: Taco Soup (I suggest using the beans you have on hand)/bread/grapes
Friday: Always pizza and raw veggies!
Saturday: I am not sure on this one yet... got any ideas?

Not free, but cheap diapers!

This week CVS is running a special on Playskool diapers (CVS brand). These MEGA packs are on sale 2/19.99 or 9.95 a pack. I buy size 4 and 46 diapers comes in a pack. The great thing about these diapers is you can use a 3/10 CVS purchase CRT because they are a CVS brand! You can also go here for a 2/1 coupon! So here is the breakdown to get these for cheap!

2 packs of diapers =19.99
-3/10 CRT
-2 2/1 coupons
=12.99 for 2 mega packs of diapers! If you were buying size 4's that would be 92 diapers or .14/diaper. This is a lot less than you will pay for premium diapers! Most premium diapers run .19/diaper-.24/diaper even with coupons!

Now if you sign up your email and you have a 4/20 CRT purchase you can sweeten the deal! Just use that along with the other coupons and pay only 8.99 for 2 mega packs, or in the event you are buying size 4's pay only .09 a diaper!

Our CVS in Topeka has also confirmed that they will take expired CVS $/$$ coupons. So if you were lucky enough to receive any of those coupons this week in an email you can use these too even they are expired.

Since I stocked up on almost free diapers last week and the deals are pretty slim, I will likely not be making the CVS run this week. Have a great week and remember to check out other great deal scenarios here!
