3-day Sale and MARKDOWNS!

I was in Dillons at 21st and Belle this morning and they had many markdowns throughout the store! The most noticeable one was milk! They are pricing a lot of their 1/2 gallons (not due to expire until the 15th/16th) down to 1.20-1.29!!!! Remember milk is freezable!

They are also having a 3 day sale:
  • 10 lb. bags of potatoes=2.99 (beats Aldi price of 3.99)
  • Ground beef=1.99/lb.
  • Saltines=10/10 (Aldi price)
There were a few others that I can't remember but if you need to go to Dillons today is the day to possibly do it!

Stir Fry and Recipe breakdown:

This is my real simple not so organized version of stir fry:)

Chicken Stir-Fry (feeds 3-4)
  • 2 chicken breasts cubed (about 1 lb.)=1.99 ( if you buy the bagged kind)
  • little olive oil
  • 1/2 of red bell pepper (Aldi 3 pack of colored peppers =2.68 so 1/2 of 1 pepper=.45
  • 1/2 of green bell pepper=.45
  • 1/2 of yellow or orange bell pepper=.45
  • handful of baby carrots sliced (1lb. bag =.99 at Aldi my guess that a handful=.20)
  • 1 yellow onion=.19 (a 5ct. bag at Aldi is usually around .99)
  • about 3 tbsp. of teriyaki sauce=pennies
  • about 1 tbsp . of soy sauce=pennies
  • salt and pepper for seasoning=pennies
  • 2 cups of cooked rice=.25
Cube, season and cook chicken and cook in olive oil until white on all sides. Add in veggies and sauce and cook until chicken and veggies are done. Put over rice.

This is seriously my own made-up recipe and it unfortunately shows:) I just cook it so it tastes good:)

All together this meal costs about $4 to make or $1 per serving. You can add in other veggies if you want. This is the simple most cost effective way that included some variety of veggies that I knew to do. I freeze the other half of the peppers to use in stir fry again or for other meals I plan to make.

Hy-Vee Coupons!

I was in Hy-Vee today and I wanted to point out 2 more reasons to visit there this week despite the GREAT SALES they have going on!

1st when I walked in I was handed a coupon booklet of Hy-Vee specific coupons!

2nd they are doing a 3 day sale ending tomorrow along with their weekly sale:
  • 12 ct Large eggs=.99 (beats the Aldi price of 1.39 this week)
  • 1 gal. of milk=2.99 (Aldi price is lower)
  • 5lb. bag of russet potatoes=.99 (beats the Aldi price of 3.99 for 10lbs)
The best part of my trip was the coupon on the back of my receipt for a FREE Sheridan's scoop or single cone!!!!

Walgreens: Bayer Special!

In this week's coupon inserts there was a rebate for up to $10 for buying qualifying Bayer items. These include Bayer, Aleve products, One a day vitamins, Neo-synephrine nose spray, Alka seltzer plus, Flintones vitamins, Citracil and Phillips.

Walgreens is also running a register reward deal where if you buy $20 in some of these products products you get $10 in RR back.

From the looks of the rebate form you need to buy seperate products in order for this to work meaning you don't want to buy 2 of the same item. You get a rebate for the 1/2 of the amount of the product less the coupon. So this is how it will play out the best from what I see:
  • Buy 1 Aleve-D product=$5
  • Buy 1 Bayer Asprin=$5
  • Buy 1 Flinstones vitamin (60ct)=$5
  • Buy 1 One a day vitamin (kids gummies 50 ct)=$5
Total=$20
-1/1 Aleve coupon
-1/1 Bayer coupon
-1/1 Flinstones coupon
-1/1 One a day vitamin coupon
New total=$16 and you get $10 in RR back.

For the rebate they will give you half the amount of what you paid for the product less the coupon. So after coupons our total was $16 making half of that $8. Essentially you will get back $8 from Bayer for the rebate.

So after RR and the rebate you actually make $2 buying these products!

You can still get items for free or make some money if you suppliment other products in. Just make sure you account for the price difference!
